MEET SUNNY BURNS!
Sunny Burns loves being physically active, especially when it is with her tribe. A longtime resident of St. Augustine, Sunny is mom to a 3-year-old and has her second on the way, and we are more than thrilled to name her Fit Mama of the Month for May! Read about what Sunny loves as a mom, solid advice she’s received from those that have come before her and what she loves about being a “fit mama!”
1) What is your favorite part about being a mom?
How can I choose just one favorite part?! … how about the unconditional LOVE and definitely the cuddles!
2) What do you and your family like to do in your free time?
Our latest “go-to” has been bike rides in our new neighborhood and also yard “work” that is more like “yard fun” for us. Nyah even has her own legit mini tools and gloves to help us.
3) What is your best piece of advice you’ve received about being a mom?
Have no “one policy,” just as “what works for one family may not work for another.” This “no one policy” (but rather a fluctuation of many) has really helped me release any guilt or frustration when such “policies” backfire or “fail” on me. I guess it’s my parenting equivalent to Buddha’s teaching of “non-attachment.” My incredibly wise mother-in-law gifted me this advice. I’m a really lucky mama to have her!
4) How is this pregnancy different than your first?
I feel so much more at ease and confident! “Knowledge is power” and it’s safe to say that all the knowledge gained from you, Lauren. For example, how to properly engage my core and pelvic floor has been, well, POWERFUL! In addition, I feel more at ease and confident just simply being pregnant for the second time— a lot of the unknowns have naturally already been answered for compared to one’s first pregnancy.
5) What do you love about being a part of the Fit Mamas Tribe?
The tribe itself! I love how this isn’t just a workout class for me but literally feels like a mom’s happy hour at a comedy show (minus the cocktails)!
